Job summary

Saab Australia is seeking an Infrastructure Administrator to join the IT Infrastructure team in Adelaide. The role focuses on developing, deploying, supporting and maintaining Saab's enterprise IT infrastructure to ensure stability, security, performance and availability for Saab users.

You will contribute to projects, handle incidents, and participate in change and problem management while collaborating with Infrastructure Leads and Team Leaders.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years in IT Infrastructure/Systems Administration or IT support.
  • Familiarity with ITSM practices: incidents, problems, changes, requests.
  • Exposure to networking, storage, compute, virtualization, and security.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of information security principles and cyber security best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and prioritise infrastructure support requests and incidents through the Service Hub.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with a strong customer service focus.
  • Support deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and optimisation of infrastructure systems.
  • Assist with management of compute, storage, virtualization, networking, and backup environments.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery activities.
  • Participate in change, incident, problem, and operational review processes.
  • Attend Change Advisory Boards, ITSM reviews, and project meetings.
  • Assist with procurement activities including RFQs and purchase orders.
  • Contribute to compliance, audit, security, and regulatory activities.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders, vendors and project teams.
  • Develop and maintain technical and end-user documentation.
  • Support knowledge sharing and cross-skilling across IT team.

INFRASTRUCTURE ADMINISTRATOR
The role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Infrastructure Administrator to join our IT Infrastructure team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career IT professional looking to build their expertise across enterprise infrastructure technologies while contributing to a high-performing and collaborative team.

As an Infrastructure Administrator, you will play a key role in developing, deploying, supporting, and maintaining Saab's enterprise IT infrastructure. Working within the IT Infrastructure team, you will help ensure the stability, security, performance, and availability of critical systems while delivering exceptional service to the Saab user community.

You will contribute to projects, support requests, incident resolution, operational improvement initiatives, and day-to-day infrastructure management activities. You will also work closely with Infrastructure Technical Leads and Team Leaders to support the ongoing planning, design, and operation of Saab's IT environments.

Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Manage and prioritise infrastructure support requests and incidents through the Infrastructure Service Hub.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues while maintaining a strong customer service focus.
  • Support the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and optimisation of infrastructure systems.
  • Assist with the management of enterprise platforms across compute, storage, virtualisation, networking, and backup environments.
  • Support business continuity and disaster recovery activities.
  • Participate in change management, incident management, problem management, and operational review processes.
  • Attend and represent the infrastructure team in forums including Change Advisory Boards (CAB), ITSM reviews, and project meetings.
  • Assist with procurement activities including RFQs, purchase orders, and receipting processes.
  • Contribute to compliance, audit, security, and regulatory activities to maintain Saab's licence to operate
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and project teams.
  • Develop and maintain technical, operational, and end-user documentation.
  • Support knowledge sharing and cross-skilling across the broader IT team.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing improvements that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role after discussion with the manager.

This is a Fixed term 2-year contract role, based in Adelaide Australia.

About you

You are a proactive and adaptable IT professional with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for technology. You enjoy working in a collaborative environment and are committed to delivering quality outcomes for customers and stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience
  • 1-2 years' experience working within an IT Infrastructure, Systems Administration, or similar IT support environment.
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management practices including incident, problem, change, and request management.
  • Exposure to enterprise infrastructure technologies, including: Networking and Network Security Storage and Compute Platforms Virtualisation Technologies Windows and/or Linux Server Administration Backup and Disaster Recovery Solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of information security principles and cyber security best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and teamwork capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation Certification (preferred or highly regarded).

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to baseline/NV1/NV2 level. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
