Job summary

Saab Australia is seeking a Space Domain Configuration Management Manager within the Chief Engineering group to lead CM across the AMS product line, delivering robust configuration management frameworks for the Allied Mission System in a software-intensive environment. You will implement CM plans, manage baselines, changes, and deviations, and collaborate with government, defence, and international partners.

Flexible hybrid arrangements and a 9-day fortnight are available.

Job description

As part of our Chief Engineering group, The Space Domain Configuration Management Manager provides technical leadership and ownership of configuration management activities across the Space Domain team. Supporting the delivery of a software-intensive Space Domain Awareness (SDA) Mission System, the role establishes, implements, and maintains CM plans, processes, and controls to ensure the effective management of product line variants, system configurations, and project deliverables. Further, the successful candidate will:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the Configuration Management (CM) Framework supporting the Allied Mission System (AMS) product line.
  • Drive the application of robust CM practices, including CM planning, baseline management, change control, and deviation management across the AMS product line.
  • Establish, deploy, and continuously improve AMS configuration management plans and processes aligned with the Product Line Engineering approach.
  • Manage AMS product assets and configurations across multiple customer delivery environments.
  • Promote and embed Configuration Management best practice across the Space Domain organisation.
  • Partner with engineering stakeholders to develop and maintain System and Product Breakdown Structures for the AMS product.
  • Establish and mature the AMS CM capability, including authoring CM plans, engineering change control processes, and version management practices.

Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.

About you

Your skills and experience will include:

  • Proven experience developing, implementing, and maintaining Configuration Management (CM) plans, processes, and practices.
  • Demonstrated experience applying CM principles within a Product Line Engineering environment.
  • Strong ability to independently manage priorities and deliver CM process, workflow, and governance improvements.
  • Experience operating in complex product development environments with competing priorities and tight delivery timelines.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working collaboratively across Government, Defence, and international organisations.
  • Experience applying Quality Assurance practices to the development and automation of business and engineering workflows.

Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.
