Job summary

Cumberland City Council in New South Wales is seeking an Information Technology Project Officer to deliver strategic IT projects, enhance cybersecurity awareness and drive digital transformation across the organisation. You will coordinate diverse stakeholders and support emerging technology programs, with travel to around 30 networked sites.

The role is based mainly at the Auburn and Merrylands Administration Buildings and requires a proactive, team-oriented professional with IT/cyber

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data/AI or related field.
  • Experience or strong interest in AI, cybersecurity or digital transformation.
  • Experience delivering and supporting IT projects.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and establish relationships with internal staff and external providers.
  • Understanding of risk, audit and compliance processes.
  • Class C drivers’ licence.

Responsibilities

About The Opportunity

Council has an exciting opportunity to join our Technology Services team as an Information Technology Project Officer and play a key role in delivering projects that drive innovation, improve services and support organisational transformation.

This exciting opportunity is suited to a motivated and proactive professional who thrives in a project-based environment and enjoys working with a diverse range of stakeholders. This role will be responsible for the coordination and support of strategic projects across the organisation which will enhance Council’s digital capabilities, strengthen cybersecurity awareness and support emerging technology programs.

The Successful Applicant Will Require
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data/AI or a related field, and/or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience or a strong interest in AI, cybersecurity or digital transformation
  • Experience delivering and supporting IT projects
  • Demonstrated analytical, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work as an effective team member and establish and maintain business relationships with internal staff and external service providers
  • Demonstrated understanding of risk, audit and compliance processes
  • Class C drivers’ licence

About This Role
  • 1x permanent, full-time position
  • Working 70 hours per fortnight
  • Access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO)
  • This position is primarily based at the Auburn and Merrylands Administration Buildings, however the successful applicant will be expected to travel to any of Council’s approximately 30 networked sites as required.

Salary information:

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 12 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,975.66 to $2,272.01 per week, plus 12% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role

  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • Be able to provide information for pre-employment checks required for the position, including attending a physical pre-employment medical examination as required
