Job summary

Strategic Partners Australia in Canberra is seeking an Information Architect – EL1 to design, document, and govern enterprise information architectures that support government business capabilities and service delivery.

You will collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define information requirements, metadata, taxonomy, and governance, while contributing to Agile delivery and knowledge transfer to build internal capability.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and governing enterprise information architectures.
  • Experience in information models, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and content structures.
  • Ability to engage stakeholders at all levels and govern information management.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery and governance practices in modern environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and govern information architectures to support business capabilities, service delivery, and enterprise information management objectives.
  • Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand information requirements, develop information models and structures, define metadata and taxonomy frameworks.
  • Support governance initiatives and Agile delivery practices, maintain artefacts, and contribute to knowledge transfer and capability building.

Job description

One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Information Architect – EL1

Please check below all the job details:
  1. Contract Duration: 45 Months (09 Months initially + 36 Months extension)
  2. Work Location: Canberra (Hybrid – 02 Days Office / 03 Days home each week)
  3. Eligibility: You must need to have Baseline Security Clearance or above.
  4. Tentative Start Date: 1st Oct 2026
  5. Working Hours: 8 hours a day/ 40 hours a week
Key duties and responsibilities:

The Information Architect will support the department by designing, documenting, and governing information architectures that support business capabilities, service delivery, and enterprise information management objectives.

The role will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand information requirements, develop information models and structures, define metadata and taxonomy frameworks, support information governance initiatives, and ensure information assets are aligned with enterprise and data architecture strategies.

The contractor will contribute to Agile delivery practices, maintain work items in Azure DevOps, support governance activities, and provide knowledge transfer to build internal capability.

Milestones:
  1. Information Discovery and Assessment
Deliverables:
  • Stakeholder engagement and information discovery workshops completed.
  • Current-state information landscape assessment.
  • Existing information assets, repositories, and structures documented.
  • Analysis of information flows, dependencies, and governance requirements.
  • Identification of information management risks, issues, and opportunities.
Outcome:
  1. Information Architecture Design
Deliverables:
  • Information architecture framework developed.
  • Information models, taxonomies, and metadata structures defined.
  • Information classification and content structures established.
  • Integration and interoperability requirements documented.
  • Information governance recommendations and standards developed.
Outcome:

Future-state information architecture aligned with business, data, and enterprise architecture objectives.

  1. Governance and Implementation Support
Deliverables:
  • Final information architecture artefacts completed.
  • Information governance documentation and recommendations.
  • Stakeholder briefings and governance presentations.
  • Knowledge transfer and handover materials.
  • Support for implementation and adoption activities.
Outcome:

Approved and sustainable information architecture supported by governance, stakeholder buy-in, and operational readiness.

Required Capabilities

Information Architecture Expertise: Proven experience designing, implementing, and governing enterprise information architectures, information models, taxonomies, metadata frameworks, and content structures.

Information Management and Governance: Demonstrated experience developing information management standards, governance frameworks, classification schemes, and practices that improve information quality, accessibility, compliance, and usability.

Stakeholder Engagement and Facilitation: Demonstrated ability to engage, influence, and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives, architects, and governance forums.

Information Modelling and Design: Experience designing logical and conceptual information models, information classifications, metadata standards, taxonomies, and structures that support discoverability, reuse, and interoperability.

Enterprise Integration and Architecture Alignment: Experience ensuring information architecture aligns with enterprise, data, solution, and business architecture practices while supporting integration across systems and services.

Communication and Documentation Skills: Strong ability to produce high-quality information architecture artefacts, governance documentation, briefing papers, standards, roadmaps, and executive presentations.

Regulatory, Security and Privacy Knowledge: Understanding of information management obligations relating to privacy, records management, security classifications, information governance, and regulatory compliance.

Agile Delivery and Governance Experience: Experience working in Agile delivery environments, using tools such as Azure DevOps, and ensuring alignment with enterprise governance, architecture standards, and organisational policies.
