Job summary

A Sydney-based, permanent full-time Industrial Designer role focused on concept-to-manufacture. Qualifications

• We’re looking for an enthusiastic, commercially minded Industrial Designer who brings strong concept capability plus end-to-end product development experience.
• 3+ years’ experience designing physical consumer products (strong portfolios are valued—especially with proven concept ownership)
• Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or similar
• Strong front-end capability: concept sketching, rendering/visual communication, rapid prototyping and confident idea presentation
• Proven ability to take products through the full journey: concept → prototyping → CAD → DFM → tooling support → volume manufacture
• Solid understanding of materials and manufacturing processes (e.g., injection moulding, assembly methods, sheet metal, die-cast, finishes/CMF)
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to manage your own workload in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team
• Advanced 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)

Responsibilities

• Owning concept development: user-led insight, ideation, sketching, visualisation and form exploration

• Applying Design for Manufacture (DFM) to ensure designs are feasible, robust and cost-effective at volume

• Working closely with manufacturing partners in Asia to validate processes, resolve issues and maintain design intent through production
• Occasional international travel to manufacturers for design reviews and production support

The Role

This is a concept-led Industrial Design role for someone who thrives in the “front end” (ideation, form, user experience) and is equally comfortable partnering with engineering and suppliers to carry designs through to high-volume manufacture.
