Job summary

Think Mental Health is seeking a Social and Emotional Wellbeing Worker, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identified, to support adults with a broad range of mental health and wellbeing needs across Canberra and Tuggeranong. The role focuses on intake-to-discharge support, care coordination and advocacy within a multidisciplinary team.

You will engage communities, deliver recovery-oriented interventions, and contribute to culturally safe service development and partnerships.

Qualifications

  • Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with strong connection to culture and community.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples in a culturally safe, strengths-based approach.
  • Knowledge of local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community services, ACCHOs and mainstream supports.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWVP card and a National Police Check.
  • Positive attitude and genuine interest in mental health care.
  • Experience in a similar SEWB or mental health role within health or social services.

Responsibilities

  • Provide culturally safe support, information and advice to consumers and families as appropriate.
  • Use strengths-based approaches to engage consumers and promote hope and wellbeing.
  • Deliver psychosocial support, safety planning, recovery and wellness planning, care coordination and advocacy.
  • Advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers and their cultural needs.
  • Coordinate referrals and connections with ACCHOs and other services.
  • Work with the multidisciplinary team to support coordinated, culturally responsive care.
  • Contribute to development and delivery of culturally safe group programs.
  • Support community engagement activities and partnerships to strengthen access to services.
