Job summary

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Liaison Officer role within ACT Health and Community Services Directorate supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants and tenants to access housing services, understand rights and responsibilities, and navigate available assistance.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications or strong demonstrated industry experience in Social Work, Community Development or a related field is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants and tenants to navigate housing services and understand their rights and responsibilities.
• Deliver culturally safe and responsive services and build strong relationships with clients, families and Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.
• Undertake outreach activities to support community housing needs and coordinate individualised housing support plans.
• Advocate for positive outcomes and provide cultural advice to staff.
• Contribute to housing policies and initiatives reflecting community needs and priorities.
