Job summary

Saltbush Social Enterprises in Darwin seeks a First Nations Employment Services Mentor to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participants through the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program.

You will mentor, coach and connect participants with services, while upholding culturally safe practices. This full-time role offers a permanent position, with competitive remuneration and a commitment to community advancement. Occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience mentoring or coaching participants.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Understanding barriers to education and employment in Indigenous communities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational skills and record-keeping.
• Willingness to complete mentoring qualification during probation.

Responsibilities

• Provide strengths-based mentoring and coaching to participants.
• Support participants to develop and achieve personal, education and employment goals.
• Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and resilience.
• Work collaboratively with Trainers, the Course Coordinator and community partners.
• Connect participants with appropriate support services where required.
• Maintain accurate participant records and contribute to program reporting.
• Promote culturally safe, respectful and inclusive practices in all aspects of service delivery.
