Job summary

ACT invites expressions of interest from experienced professionals to join the Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate (CMTEDD) Audit and Risk Committee as an Independent Member. The Independent Member will support governance, risk management, internal controls and assurance across the Directorate.

The role requires expertise in public sector financial reporting, audit and governance, with a strong emphasis on independence, integrity and cultural safety.

Qualifications

• Financial management and public sector financial reporting experience.
• Audit, risk and governance expertise at senior level.
• Broad governance and risk expertise including IT/cyber security and managing significant organisational risks.
• Independence, integrity and ability to provide impartial advice and constructive challenge.
• Understanding of Closing the Gap and inclusive governance with culturally safe practices.

Responsibilities

• Preparing for and actively participating in Committee and subcommittee meetings.
• Reviewing meeting papers and draft minutes.
• Supporting compliance with the Committee Charter and Terms of Reference.
• Contributing to deliberations, recommendations and annual performance review.
• Maintaining independence and declaring conflicts of interest.
• Acting in accordance with the ACTPS Code of Conduct and governance requirements.
• Undertaking additional responsibilities as requested by leadership.
