Job summary

Sapphire Coast Anglican College is seeking a committed Learning Support Officer to assist teachers, support students with diverse learning needs and promote inclusive education. You will work with individuals and small groups, support wellbeing, observe progress and provide feedback, and contribute to positive, respectful learning environments in line with Anglican values.

Mandatory WWCC and relevant education support qualifications are preferred; training in First Aid may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to work effectively with children and young people.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patience, empathy and a supportive, inclusive approach to learning.
• Ability to follow teacher direction and work effectively as part of a team.
• Basic literacy, numeracy and organisational skills.
• Working With Children Check (WWCC) – mandatory.
• Understanding of inclusive education and student wellbeing, or willingness to undertake professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Support individual students and small groups with learning activities under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Assist students with additional learning needs, including students with disability, learning difficulties, behavioural or social-emotional needs.
• Support students' wellbeing, social skills and positive behaviour, modelling respectful and caring relationships.
• Assist with personal care, mobility or health-related support where required, in accordance with training and school policies.
• Supervise students during lessons, excursions, camps, chapel services and playground duty as directed.
• Prepare and organise learning materials, resources and equipment.
• Support classroom routines and transitions.
• Assist with learning adjustments, IEPs, behaviour support plans or pastoral care strategies.
• Observe and record student engagement and progress and provide feedback to teachers.
