Job summary

Aged & Community Services Australia is seeking a Qualified Support Worker to assist elderly clients in their own homes, promoting independence and safety. You will provide personal care, medication reminders, and support daily living activities while collaborating with the care team.

Requirements include Certificate III in Aged Care, a valid driver’s license, police clearance, First Aid, CPR, manual handling, and medication competency.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Individual Support Work or Aged Care is required.
• Current motor vehicle licence and a reliable car.
• Current National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
• Current First Aid certificate - HLTAID011 - Provide First Aid (or willingness to obtain).
• Current CPR certificate - HLTAID009 - Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (or willingness to obtain).
• Manual handling competency - HLTWHS005 - Conduct manual tasks safely, and ability to perform personal care tasks safely
• Medication competency - HLTHPS006 - Assist clients with medication (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to follow care plans and organisational policies
• Willingness to undergo relevant training and certifications
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends if required
• Fluent and clear English communication skills
• Average problem-solving skills
• Proven attention to detail
• Empathy, patience, and a non judgmental attitude
• Previous aged care experience
• Experience in palliative or end-of-life care

Responsibilities

• Ensure client safety and wellbeing.
