Job summary

Australian Unity is seeking a Personal Care Assistant to support older Australians in their homes across Cairns and surrounding areas. You will deliver person-centred care with kindness within a supportive team.

You will provide personal care, mobility support, light domestic tasks and social companionship. A paid induction and training program is offered, with permanent part-time contracts (30–50 hours per fortnight) and stable hours.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering personal care in aged care, disability, or hospital environments.
• Hold Australian Driver's Licence and own comprehensively insured car.
• Available to work at least 6 hours per day 8am–6pm across 3–4 weekdays; some weekend rostering possible.

Responsibilities

• Personal care: showering, grooming, toileting and mobility support.
• Medication assistance where applicable.
• Domestic tasks: cleaning, laundry and meal preparation.
• Social support and companionship to promote wellbeing.
• Promoting independence and dignity in daily activities.
