Job summary

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
• Demonstrated experience planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
• Demonstrated experience monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and ability to establish collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community.
• Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values and experience reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning to improve teaching quality.
• Commitment to child safety as per Ministerial Order 870 and VRQA requirements.

Responsibilities

• The classroom teacher classification focuses on planning, preparation and teaching of programs to achieve specific student outcomes.
• The role involves critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills for engaging students and improving learning.
• Range 2 teachers contribute to school policies, priorities, and support staff to improve student outcomes.
• Range 1 teachers develop skills under guidance, plan and teach groups in one or more subjects, and participate in induction and professional learning.
• Responsibilities may include mentoring student teachers and using student data to inform instructional approaches.
