Job summary

St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne ICU is seeking Registered Nurses to join the Postgraduate Intensive Care Nursing stream. This 0.8 EFT fixed-term contract for 12 months offers rotating 8-hour AM/PM and 10-hour night shifts, with enrolment in the Deakin University Graduate Certificate.

Successful applicants will complete academic requirements, with Semester 2 progression linked to performance; intake begins February 2027 at Deakin Burwood, based in Fitzroy with public transport access.

Qualifications

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
• Minimum of 2 years nursing practice in an acute care setting in a tertiary hospital
• English language skills as per AHPRA standard
• Willingness to undergo National Police Record Check
• Professional indemnity insurance
• Desirable: completion of SVHM PSP and/or TSP
• Desirable: completion of SVHM Online 12 Lead ECG Course and/or Heart Starter Study Day

Responsibilities

• Join the Postgraduate Intensive Care Nursing stream
• Learn in a collaborative multidisciplinary team to manage complex patient presentations
• Complete clinical requirements and academic components with Deakin University
• Progression to Semester 2 contingent on performance and academic components
• Possible ongoing employment within the ICU after successful completion
