Job summary

Randstad in Melbourne, VIC, is seeking a Hydraulic Engineer (2-4 years) to lead hydraulic services design across commercial, residential, healthcare and education projects. You will develop 3D BIM models in Revit Plumbing/Hydraulics, perform sizing calculations, and coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and contractors to achieve compliant, efficient designs.

Qualifications

2-4 years of professional experience in hydraulic design within an Australian building services consultancy.
Strong proficiency in Revit; familiarity with AutoCAD and hydraulic sizing software/spreadsheets.
Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Building Services) or equivalent qualification in Hydraulic Design.
Sound knowledge of Australian plumbing codes, water supply principles, drainage design, and trade waste requirements.
Career focus on technical precision and long-term growth in building services.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for liaising with clients and authorities.

Responsibilities

Perform detailed design of hydraulic services across projects (sanitary plumbing, drainage, trade waste, water supply, rainwater, gas services).
Produce high-quality 3D BIM models and documentation using Revit Plumbing/Hydraulics.
Execute sizing and calculations for pumps, pipework, backflow prevention, hot water plant, and rainwater systems.
Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, fire/mechanical consultants, and contractors to resolve coordination challenges.
Conduct site inspections, review contractor submittals, and assist with commissioning oversight.
Ensure designs comply with NCC/PCA and AS/NZS 3500 series.
