Job summary

eHealth NSW is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support and transform NSW Health’s routing and switching networks across Backbone, Data Centre and Campus sites. The role offers hybrid work from Chatswood and a competitive salary.

You will lead network transformation projects, design and implement secure, scalable solutions, collaborate with senior stakeholders, and mentor engineers to raise engineering standards while delivering reliable services for clinicians and hospitals across NSW.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience delivering and supporting large-scale Routing & Switching environments across Backbone, Data Centre and Campus network domains.
• Advanced expertise in Cisco, Juniper and enterprise networking technologies, with strong knowledge of protocols including BGP, OSPF, MPLS, EVPN, VXLAN, VRF, QoS, multicast, routing policy, route redistribution, switching fabrics, VLAN, STP, RSTP, MST, LACP, vPC, MC-LAG, SDA, campus segmentation, high availability and network resiliency.
• Proven ability to lead complex technical investigations, manage risk and provide trusted advice to technical and operational stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to engineering excellence through automation, operational assurance, standards development and continuous service improvement.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes, mentor engineers and foster a high-performing technical culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead network transformation projects and platform upgrades across complex Routing & Switching environments.
• Design, implement and support secure, resilient and scalable Backbone, Data Centre and Campus network solutions.
• Collaborate with senior technical stakeholders to drive architectural decisions, manage risks and deliver roadmap outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership for major incidents and operational excellence initiatives.
• Mentor engineers and champion engineering best practice through standards and documentation.
