Job summary

LEAP is seeking a Database Designer for the Property Law team in Sydney. You will manage LEAP’s database of Matter types, fields, calculations, and layouts—supporting 10,000+ forms and precedents across Australia.

The role offers extensive training and a path into advanced document automation and UX/UI-driven features. This technical position suits lawyers transitioning to tech, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and user-centered design.

Qualifications

2 years of experience working with legal matters across areas of law.
Experience using Word document automation software.
Understanding of JavaScript.
UX/UI principles awareness is a plus but not required.
Demonstrated ability to problem-solve in a technical/legal environment.

Responsibilities

Continually improve Matter types and tables capturing client data.
Manage a portfolio of calculations written in JavaScript for LEAP clients.
Maintain and update legal rates and charges across Australia, including Stamp Duty, using JavaScript.
Apply UX/UI principles to design responsive layouts used in LEAP tables.
Collaborate with Forms Designers to enhance automation and form functionality.
Review client/staff feedback to improve matter types, tables and calculations.
Support content teams with new automation methods for the legal industry.
