Job summary

Latrobe City Council is seeking a Planning Compliance Officer to investigate planning enforcement matters and conduct site inspections, audits and investigations. You will prepare reports and documentation for matters proceeding to VCAT or court and provide specialist advice on compliance matters.

You will work with property owners, developers and the community to promote understanding of planning controls, encouraging ongoing compliance and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience or qualifications in statutory planning, compliance, regulation or related field.
• Ability to interpret and apply planning legislation, policies and procedures.
• Strong investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Investigate planning compliance matters and undertake enforcement activities per legislation and policies.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and investigations; gather evidence and prepare recommendations.
• Prepare reports and documentation for matters proceeding to VCAT or Magistrates' Court.
• Engage with property owners, developers, businesses and community members to promote compliance.
