Job summary

MPAU Technology is seeking a Payroll Business Analyst to support a large payroll and HR systems project in Melbourne. You will partner with payroll, HR and vendor teams to document current and future-state processes and help deliver a modern payroll platform.

The role requires 2–4 years in payroll/HRIS projects, strong Excel and testing experience, and the ability to run workshops and produce clear documentation. A hybrid working environment in Melbourne is offered.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of payroll/HRIS project experience.
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll processes and controls.
• Exposure to major payroll platforms (e.g., SAP Payroll, Workday, Oracle HCM).
• Hands-on SIT, UAT, and parallel payroll testing experience.
• Advanced Excel skills for data validation and reconciliation.
• Experience documenting processes and operating procedures.
• Healthcare or complex workforce environment experience desirable.
• Strong stakeholder engagement with Payroll HR teams and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Document current and future-state payroll processes with stakeholders.
• Gather, analyse, and document business requirements for payroll system enhancements.
• Develop detailed process maps, workflows, BRDs using Visio or Lucidchart.
• Coordinate and execute payroll testing activities, including SIT, UAT, and parallel validation.
• Perform payroll data analysis, reconciliations, and exception reporting to support configuration.
• Support payroll data migration, cleansing, and validation activities during implementation.
• Facilitate workshops with payroll SMEs and key stakeholders to capture requirements.
• Investigate payroll system issues and assist with resolution with project/vendor teams.
• Create user guides, training materials, and knowledge transfer documentation.
• Identify process improvement opportunities within payroll and workforce management.
