Job summary

Central Coast Council is seeking a Network & Security Engineer to lead the management and security of our critical network infrastructure. You’ll monitor, secure, and optimize systems that thousands of residents rely on daily, while advising senior leaders on risk and resilience.

You’ll manage security events, drive mature security practices, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver DR/BC planning, all within a flexible hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Solid experience with security platforms such as SIEM, EDR, IPS and multifactor authentication.
• Experience managing large, complex IT environments, whether in government or a large organisation.
• Knowledge of Azure cloud networking and identity platforms such as Active Directory and Entra ID.
• A degree in IT or Computer Science, or equivalent experience and ongoing professional development.
• Bonus points: ITIL, or Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Zscaler or Azure certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting of our network and security infrastructure.
• Investigate and respond to security events before they become problems.
• Run network and security maturity uplift projects, working with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Shape Council's Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning.
• Work with a team that values open communication, problem solving and sharing what we learn
