Job summary

FinOps Weekly in Melbourne is seeking a Technology Finance Operations Specialist to oversee and optimise technology-related expenditure across cloud, on-premises infrastructure, software, SaaS, AI, licensing, and managed services.

The role partners with Finance, Procurement, and Technology teams to improve forecasting, reporting, and cost governance while supporting investment decisions and contract renewals. Flexible work options include 40% work from home and a central CBD location.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in technology financial management.
• Strong background in budgeting and forecasting.
• Experience in cost optimisation across cloud and on-premises technology environments.
• Understanding of expenditure across infrastructure, software, SaaS, AI, licensing, and managed services.
• Ability to analyse complex financial and utilisation data to identify trends, risks, and efficiency opportunities.
• Strong relationship-building skills across Finance, Procurement, and Technology teams.
• Ability to translate complex data into clear insights and practical recommendations.
• Commitment to supporting the organisation’s mission and values.
• Willingness to submit a covering letter of no more than two pages addressing the position requirements.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse technology spend across cloud, infrastructure, software, SaaS, AI, licensing, and managed services.
• Develop budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for technology costs.
• Identify optimisation opportunities to reduce spend and improve efficiency.
• Review utilisation to improve value, performance, and compliance.
• Produce regular FinOps reporting and recommendations.
• Maintain records and controls to support technology cost governance.
• Support financial risk management through reporting and analysis.
