Job summary

eHealth NSW, the digital centre of excellence for NSW Health, invites you to join the Technology Services Data Analytics Service as an Associate Data Engineer. You will operate and manage our enterprise data, analytics and BI platform, using cloud and BI technologies to support patient care.

The role partners with senior engineers to build robust data pipelines in Python and SQL (Snowflake), with emphasis on testing, logging and reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
• Solid fundamentals: explain what your code is doing, Python data structures and exception handling.
• Database literacy: understand cloud data warehouse concepts and clean data modeling.
• Engineering mindset: read docs, test code, and be transparent about gaps.
• Testing obsession: write test cases and consider edge cases and failures.

Responsibilities

• Write code and build data pipelines using Python and AWS services via code.
• Write, debug, and optimise SQL queries in Snowflake with joins and window functions.
• Troubleshoot pipeline failures and data synchronization issues.
• Add robust error handling, logging and automated testing for reliability.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure pipelines meet real-world requirements.
