Job summary

Transgrid in New South Wales is recruiting Protection and Metering Technicians to safeguard the high voltage network that powers homes and businesses across NSW. You will protect, test and fault‑find protection relays and schemes, working on both legacy and modern systems while supporting installation and commissioning across transmission lines and transformers.

We welcome candidates from qualified electrical trades into protection, with metering supported by your strong protection foundations.

Qualifications

Certificate III in Electrotechnology or equivalent electrical trade qualification.
Foundational experience with protection systems, relays, schemes, testing, maintenance or commissioning.
Ability to interpret schematics and apply diagnostic thinking in the field.
Collaborative, safety-focused approach and willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

Maintain, test and fault find protection relays and schemes from electromechanical to numerical relays.
Support installation and commissioning across transmission lines, transformers, reactors and busbars.
Develop capability in revenue checks and metering testing and documentation.
Interpret schematics and contribute to safe switching and protection withdrawals.
Collaborate with engineers and project teams to improve methods and deliver reliable outcomes.
