Job summary

WSP Australia seeks an Electrical Engineer (HV/EHV) to contribute to major transmission and substation projects across Australia. You will design and deliver HV/EHV infrastructure from concept to construction, and develop layouts, calculations, and specifications for 132kV to 500kV systems.

You will join a collaborative Power & Energy team, sharing expertise, and advancing its culture of technical excellence while working with multidisciplinary teams and key clients.

Qualifications

• Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related discipline.
• 4-8 years' experience delivering HV/EHV substation, transmission, or power infrastructure projects.
• Experience working in transmission, utilities, renewable energy, or power sectors.
• Experience preparing engineering calculations and design documentation.
• Exposure to conductor and busbar sizing.
• Short-circuit calculations.
• Lightning protection design.
• Lighting design studies.
• Substation equipment layouts.
• HV cable sizing and associated calculations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Proactive attitude and desire to grow your career in power industry.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the design and delivery of HV/EHV substations and transmission infrastructure projects from concept through to detailed design and construction support.
• Prepare engineering calculations, technical studies, specifications, and design documentation.
• Develop substation layouts, equipment arrangements, and primary design deliverables.
• Undertake technical assessments including conductor sizing, busbar sizing, short-circuit studies, and equipment selection.
• Support design reviews, construction activities, commissioning, and project delivery phases.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, utilities, contractors, and stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Work alongside senior engineers and technical leaders to develop innovative and practical engineering solutions.
• Contribute to a strong culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
