Job summary

Parkview Constructions Pty is seeking an experienced HR Manager to own the HR function across our Sydney-based business. This stand-alone role, supported by an HR Administrator, offers close collaboration with senior management and project teams.

The role requires practical HR leadership in employee and industrial relations, performance management, recruitment and policy development, with hands-on involvement in day-to-day HR matters and healthier workforce outcomes.

Qualifications

• Solid HR management experience, ideally in construction or related industry.
• Strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of HR function.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical and commercially focused HR advice to managers and project teams.

Parkview Constructions is a multi-award-winning construction company founded in 1997, committed to integrity, excellence and innovation across residential and commercial construction. With projects across the Sydney Metropolitan region, we have a strong and growing team delivering some of Sydney’s prominent high-rise residential and commercial developments.

We are looking for an experienced HR Manager to take ownership of the HR function across the business. This is a stand-alone HR management role, supported by an HR Administrator, and provides the opportunity to work closely with senior management, project teams and employees across all levels of the business.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced HR professional who enjoys being close to the business, understands the construction environment and can provide practical advice across employee relations, industrial relations and day-to-day HR matters.

About the role

Reporting to senior management, you will have responsibility for managing and developing the HR function across Parkview, including:

• Providing practical and commercially focused HR advice to managers, project teams and employees
• Managing employee relations and industrial relations matters from start to finish
• Managing performance, investigations, disciplinary processes and workplace issues
• Overseeing recruitment and workforce planning across projects and head office
• Developing, reviewing and implementing HR policies, procedures and initiatives
• Managing the employee lifecycle from onboarding through to exit
• Supporting employee engagement, development and retention initiatives
• Managing remuneration and salary review processes
• Maintaining compliance with employment legislation, modern awards and enterprise agreements
• Working closely with project teams to understand workforce requirements and provide practical HR solutions
• Supporting workplace health, safety and wellbeing initiatives
• Managing HR reporting, systems and continuous improvement
• Taking ownership of HR projects and initiatives that support the broader business
• Leading, mentoring and developing the HR Administrator, providing day-to-day guidance and helping build their HR knowledge and capability
• Delegating appropriate HR administration responsibilities while maintaining oversight of the overall HR function

About you

We are looking for an experienced HR professional who:

• Has solid HR management experience, ideally within the construction or related industry
• Holds a qualification in Human Resources, Psychology or a related discipline
• Has strong knowledge of Australian employment legislation and industrial relations
• Is confident managing employee and industrial relations matters independently
• Has experience working with modern awards and/or enterprise agreements
• Is comfortable dealing directly with senior management, project leaders and employees at all levels
• Has a practical, hands-on approach to HR
• Is capable of operating independently and taking ownership of the HR function
• Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Is organised, commercially minded and able to manage competing priorities
• Is prepared to challenge the status quo and provide clear, practical advice when required
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced construction environment and being part of the day-to-day business
