Job summary

Alta-1 College QLD is seeking a driven HR and Administration Manager to lead a small team and deliver top-class human resources support to staff, students and parents.

You will manage administrative functions, ensure compliance with child-safety and education standards, and align services with the college’s Christian ethos.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a small team of administrators and provide high-level HR support to staff, students and parents.
  • Oversee school administrative functions and ensure efficient operations.
  • Ensure compliance with child safety, working with children checks and related policies.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and staff development aligned with college values.
  • Collaborate with college leadership to deliver consistent, high-quality service across the community.

Alta-1 College Queensland is a multi-sited, independent, co-educational, Special Assistance School (SAS) for Years 7–12. We work with at-risk young people in deliberately small campus settings, providing trauma-informed, wrap-around support that empowers them to discover their identity and purpose through a recovery focused education. This is an opportunity for a talented and motivated HR and Administration Manager with a heart for providing excellence in service to staff, students and parents of a school community. The successful applicant will lead a small and vibrant team of administrators. They will be responsible for delivering top-class human resources support within the College community and carry management responsibility for the administrative functions of the College. The successful applicant will be passionate about facilitating the central mission of the College and supporting staff in ways that align to the values and Christian ethos of the College. This role is a full-time role.

Role Selection Criteria

Essential (applicable to all college staff):

Commitment to Christian faith, college values and the highest standards of professional conduct

Passionate about the central mission of the College.

Demonstrated experience in office/administration management, together with practical HR administration or advisory experience

Strong organisational and systems management capability

High attention to detail and data accuracy

Ability to manage staff and competing priorities effectively

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Working knowledge of contemporary HR practice and Australian employment relations obligations, with the ability to interpret relevant industrial instruments and policies

Demonstrated discretion, sound judgement and ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee information

Alignment with the mission and values of the College

Blue Card

National Criminal History Check

Experience in an educational or school-based environment

Qualification in Human Resources, Business, Management or a related discipline

Familiarity with school systems (e.g. SEQTA, Zunia, QCAA platforms)
