Job summary

Cook Shire Council seeks a Human Resources Advisor to join the People, Performance and Safety team in Cooktown. This Full Time, 2 Years Maximum Term role provides trusted HR advice across the organisation and supports recruitment, policy initiatives and employment legislation.

You’ll work in a close-knit regional council, coaching leaders, managing a varied caseload and contributing to a fair, high-performing workplace.

Qualifications

• Tertiary HR qualifications and broad HR experience.
• Experience under Queensland IR framework desirable.

Cook Shire Council is looking for a Human Resources Advisor to join our People, Performance and Safety team and provide trusted HR advice and support across the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

• Provide practical HR advice to Managers and Supervisors on people, performance and conduct matters.
• Coach leaders to build their confidence and capability in managing people.
• Interpret and apply employment legislation, industrial instruments and policies.
• Manage end-to-end recruitment across Council.
• Contribute to HR programs, projects and policy initiatives.
• Work collaboratively with the broader People, Performance and Safety team.

What We're Looking For

• Tertiary qualifications in HR or a related discipline, together with substantial generalist HR experience.
• Experience working under the Queensland industrial relations framework desirable (Qld IR Act 2016).
• The confidence to work independently and use initiative when dealing with complex or less-defined matters.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
• A practical, proactive and customer-focused approach.
• The ability to manage a varied caseload, meet deadlines and stay calm when things get busy.
• Confidentiality, discretion and sound judgement.

Tenure: Full Time. 2 Years Maximum Term.

Remuneration: Queensland Local Government Industry (Stream A: Division 2, Section 1) Award – State 2017

Level 5 to 6

Between $95,367 and $106,128 per annum

Leave Entitlements: 5 weeks annual leave per annum

15 days personal leave per annum

9 day fortnight

Superannuation: 12% Superannuation contributions
