Job summary

The Next Step Recruitment Company in Sydney's Western Suburbs NSW is seeking a hands-on Health and Safety Co-ordinator or developing Advisor to strengthen HSEQ across multiple sites. The role covers day-to-day safety, risk assessments, incident investigations, audits and compliance activities.

You will work with leaders and frontline teams to develop systems, deliver training and foster a proactive safety culture, with a clear path to higher responsibility in a growing essential services

Qualifications

• Experience in a health and safety role in an operational environment.
• A relevant health and safety qualification.
• Approachable, practical style and ability to build relationships across the business.
• Strong organisation skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn and develop.
• Initiative and confidence to take ownership while accepting guidance.
• Good judgement and ability to determine what needs attention first.
• Comfort balancing time in operations with compliance and administration.
• Genuine interest in people and improving safety outcomes.
• Experience in waste, transport, logistics, manufacturing, or chemicals is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Support day to day health, safety, environment and compliance activities across operational sites.
• Work with operational teams on risk assessments, controls and safety improvements.
• Support incident investigations and ensure actions are followed through.
• Coordinate workplace inspections, audits and compliance activities.
• Support the continued development and implementation of HSEQ systems and processes.
• Work closely with leaders, supervisors and frontline teams to strengthen safety engagement.
• Assist with training, injury management and broader HSEQ initiatives.
• Maintain safety documentation, records and compliance requirements.
• Help work through existing compliance priorities and keep actions moving.
• Contribute to projects and improvement initiatives as the safety function continues to develop.
