Qualifications

• Proven experience in a project-based senior Health and Safety advisory role with a commercial builder or developer will be highly regarded.
• Track record of delivering commercial projects over $50M.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential.
• Deep knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management processes, and auditing practices.
• Minimum Certificate IV in WHS is required, Diploma or higher highly regarded.
• ICAM certification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Managing client and key regulatory stakeholder relationships.
• Leading site inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
• Investigating safety incidents and near misses, and developing/corrective actions.
• Identifying and reporting risks and hazards with timely investigations and control measures.
• Supporting the implementation and monitoring of WHS management systems.
• Identifying HSE training needs and developing project-based training programs.
• Maintaining and updating the training register and reporting WHS performance data.

Job description

Well established across Sydney and regional NSW, this commercial builder has been delivering major projects in the commercial, residential, and health sectors for over half a century . With divisions covering new build and fitout & refurbishment, their quality of work is demonstrated through multiple industry awards and long-standing client partnerships spanning decades.

The Opportunity

The HSE Manager will report to the functional Head of Safety and Regional Manager to support projects across the Central Coast and Hunter regions. Working closely with project leadership, you will ensure Health and Safety standards are met while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Your principal responsibilities will include:

• Managing client and key regulatory stakeholder relationships.
• Leading site inspections, audits, and compliance activities.
• Investigating safety incidents and near misses, and developing and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
• Identifying and reporting risks and hazards, ensuring timely investigation and implementation of appropriate control measures.
• Supporting the implementation and monitoring of WHS management systems.
• Identifying HSE training needs, and developing and facilitating project-based training programs, while maintaining the training register.
• Capturing, analysing, and reporting on incident trends, audit outcomes, and WHS performance data to support continuous improvement.

Your Skills & Experience

Proven experience in a project-based senior Health and Safety advisory role with a commercial builder or developer will be highly regarded, as will a track record of delivering commercial projects over $50M.

Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, with the ability to advise and influence project leadership, subcontractors, and client representatives. Deep knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management processes, and auditing practices will be relied upon. A minimum Certificate IV in WHS is required, with a Diploma or higher qualification highly regarded. An ICAM certification would also be advantageous.
