Job summary

Downer is seeking an experienced Manager HSE Energy Solutions to partner with operational leaders across our Energy & Utilities portfolio on the East Coast. You will lead a team of HSE professionals to drive a high‑performing safety culture while ensuring compliance with WHS legislation and client requirements.

You will influence ownership of HSE outcomes, develop capability, and drive continuous improvement across multiple projects and locations, with regular travel between regional sites.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional HSE certifications.
• Extensive experience in high risk industries (construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy, mining).
• Experience leading HSE teams in multiple East Coast locations.
• Strong knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and risk management frameworks.
• Experience leading investigations, audits, compliance programs and continuous improvement.

We are seeking an experienced Manager HSE Energy Solutions to partner with operational leaders and project teams to drive a high performing health, safety and environment culture across our Energy & Utilities business.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Operations HSE Manager for our Energy & Industrial business to partner with operational leaders and project teams to drive a high performing health, safety and environment culture across our Energy & Utilities business.
Reporting to the Head of HSE, you will lead a team of HSE professionals and act as a trusted business partner to operational leaders, supporting the delivery of work safely, sustainably and in line with company, client and legislative requirements. This role plays a critical part in influencing safety ownership across the business, building capability, driving continuous improvement and ensuring operational excellence across a diverse portfolio of projects.
This is an East Coast focused leadership position requiring regular travel to project sites across the East Coast of Australia.

You are a collaborative and influential HSE leader who thrives in complex operational environments and can build trusted relationships at all levels of an organisation. You are passionate about creating safe workplaces and enabling leaders to take ownership of HSE outcomes.
To be successful in this role you will bring:

• Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Relevant professional HSE certifications.
• Extensive experience within high risk industries such as construction, infrastructure, utilities, energy or mining.
• Proven experience leading and developing high performing HSE teams in multiple locations across the East Coast of Australia.

• Demonstrated experience leading investigations, audits, compliance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing skills.

• Experience supporting multiple projects and geographically dispersed teams.
• Qualifications in ICAM investigation (Lead) are required.
  
• Injury management or auditing qualifications will be highly regarded.
  
• Have the ability to travel to both regional and metro interstate and intrastate locations regularly.
