Job summary

FGI Developments in Cairns, QLD, is seeking an experienced HR Officer to join our team. In this full-time role, you will support HR operations, oversee recruitment, onboarding, records, and compliance. You will advise managers on payroll, leave, performance, and discipline, contribute to HR initiatives and training, and maintain our HRIS.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in an HR officer or generalist role, preferably in construction.
• Tertiary qualification in HR, Business, or related field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of HR legislation and health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

FGI Developments is seeking an experienced HR Officer to join our team in Cairns, Queensland. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in supporting our organisation's human resources function and contributing to the overall success of our company.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the recruitment and onboarding process for new employees, including sourcing candidates, coordinating interviews, and facilitating the hiring process
• Administer employee records and documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant HR policies and procedures
• Provide advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR-related matters, such as payroll, leave entitlements, performance management, and disciplinary procedures
• Assist in the development and implementation of HR initiatives, including training and development programs
• Contribute to the maintenance of the company's human resources information system (HRIS)
• Participate in the development and review of HR policies and procedures
• Provide support in employee relations, including conflict resolution and grievance handling

About you

• Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar HR officer or generalist role, preferably within the construction industry
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with employees at all levels
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands
• Demonstrated knowledge of HR-related legislation and regulations, including workplace health and safety
• A proactive and customer-focused approach, with a commitment to providing high-quality service
