Purple Playground is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support 8-10 active clients across the employee lifecycle from a home-based setup. You’ll advise business owners and leaders, interpret awards and policies, and help organisations implement practical, compliant people practices.
You'll manage onboarding, employee relations, and HR documentation while traveling to Gold Coast meetings as required. This flexible role values autonomy, relationship building and real-world problem solving.
Do you love HR but feel like there must be a better way to show your value? Perhaps you’re looking for Version 2.0 of your HR Career. A HR role where you get to use your experience, solve real people problems and build genuine relationships; but where success isn't about the next big title, high salary and stress levels to go with it, or climbing the corporate ladder. That's exactly the kind of HR person we're looking for. At Purple Playground every day is different...One minute you might be helping a business owner navigate a performance issue, the next you're interpreting an Award, reviewing an employment contract, coaching a leader through a difficult conversation or helping a growing business put better people practices in place. The thing we love most about our work? We get to help good employers become great employers. Many of our clients don't have an internal HR team. You'll help them understand their employer obligations and while building their knowledge, confidence and capability to lead their teams well - creating workplaces where people can thrive.
You’ll be the trusted HR advisor for approximately 8 - 10 active clients at any one time, supporting them across the employee lifecycle with practical options that help them understand and manage workplace risks.
Your work will include:
Alongside everyday advisory work, you’ll support more complex matters when needed, including:
No two days are the same, and that's one of the things our team loves most about the role.
You will have recent, demonstrated experience in a hands-on generalist HR role, with accountability across the end-to-end employee lifecycle.
You might currently be:
You’ll enjoy switching priorities throughout the week – from onboarding and policy development to employee relations, performance, compliance and organisational challenges.
You’ll enjoy helping leaders build capability rather than simply solving problems for them. You’ll know how to establish credibility, communicate confidently and provide practical advice that works in the real world.
At Purple Playground, each team member manages their own portfolio of clients and becomes a trusted extension of their team.
You’ll be the primary point of contact for your clients, building trusted relationships and supporting them through a wide range of people-related challenges and opportunities.
Because our clients rely on us for timely advice and support, availability and responsiveness during agreed working hours is an important part of the role.
Whether you’re an early starter, need to work around school hours or simply prefer to structure your day differently, you can work your contracted hours between 7am and 7pm AEST. We just ask that everyone is available during our core hours of 9:30am to 2pm, Monday to Friday, so our clients and team can rely on us being there. Part-time arrangements require a minimum of 5 hours per day, Monday to Friday. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your diary, prioritise your workload and plan your day in a way that supports our team, your clients and your own commitments.
Although this is a work-from-home role, we hold regular in-person meetings on the Gold Coast. Applicants must be able to travel to these meetings when reasonably required.
You’ll own your portfolio, but you’re part of a team. Clear HubSpot record-keeping and weekly work-in-progress meetings help us identify risks and opportunities, share knowledge and support one another during leave or unexpected absences.
Our clients are partnered with a dedicated Purple Playground team member while also benefiting from the collective knowledge and support of our wider team. Being a trusted advisor means keeping clients informed, following through and documenting your advice so other team members can confidently step in when required.
Ready for varied, meaningful HR work, trusted client relationships, and the chance to help leaders build high-performing teams? We'd love to hear from you.
