Job summary

The Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation in Brisbane — Dutton Park, QLD is seeking a High Performance Computing Systems Administrator to join a small support team. You will operate and extend on‑premise HPC clusters and mass storage, with hybrid cloud readiness, supporting scientists in climate, satellites, and ML workloads.

Responsibilities

• Assist with deployment of new HPC infrastructure and modern software environments, including connected cloud environments.
• Collaborate with users, vendors and partners to identify and resolve hardware and software issues.
• HPC admin in Linux and Windows: user management, batch management, performance monitoring, backup and restore, software management, and user support.
• Advise science staff on software management to support model runs and processing.
• Support proof-of-concept activities and coordinate with IT, project staff, and business areas to deliver outcomes.
• Contribute to strategy, planning and procurement of high performance computing.
• Deliver training to raise HPC and cloud capability among Science users.
• Assist with IT contracts, budgets, and procurement and with IT infrastructure projects.
• Follow IT change and release management to ensure continuous operations.
• Stay aware of industry trends and new technologies for on-prem and cloud HPC.
