Job summary

Regional Housing is a Tier 1 not-for-profit organisation delivering crisis, transitional and long-term social housing across regional Queensland. The Housing Officer will oversee tenancy management and assess customer needs, providing appropriate advice and referrals to sustain tenancies.

The role requires excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and the ability to work independently in a changing environment.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in the housing and homelessness sector, Human Services or another relatable field.
  • Knowledge of community services and support pathways.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage respectfully with a diverse customer base.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Effective time management and organisational skills including accurate recordkeeping.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with adaptability in a changing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the capacity to adopt new systems.
  • Holder of Australian Citizenship or full, unrestricted Australian work rights.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check, Blue Card and Disability Worker Screening Clearance.
  • Current Queensland C-Class Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

  • In a Housing Officer role, manage tenancies and conduct assessments of customer needs.
  • Provide advice, support and referrals to customers under social housing programs.
  • Maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships and support community engagement.
  • Support the successful sustainment of tenancies through an effective allocation process.
  • Work within core organisational values, policies and funding guidelines.
