Job description

House Managers - Disability Services: Donnybrook, Officer, Clyde & Cranbourne

Locations: Donnybrook | Officer | Clyde | Cranbourne

Lead with purpose. Empower your team. Make a meaningful difference.

Are you an experienced disability professional who leads by example, thrives in complex support environments and is passionate about delivering exceptional participant outcomes?

Sunrise2Sunrise is seeking confident, capable and compassionate House Managers to lead our Supported Independent Living (SIL) and complex support services across Melbourne's northern and south‑eastern suburbs.

These opportunities are suited to experienced House Managers, Team Leaders and experienced Disability Support Workers who bring strong operational knowledge, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to participant rights, safeguarding and quality service delivery.

We are particularly interested in individuals who understand the complexities of supporting people with intellectual disability, psychosocial disability and behaviours of concern, and who can confidently guide teams in delivering consistent, trauma‑informed and person‑centered supports.

About the Opportunity

As a House Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to‑day leadership and coordination of a supported living or respite service, ensuring participants receive safe, consistent and individualised supports that reflect their needs, preferences and goals.

Working closely with your Area Manager, you will provide practical leadership to your team, maintain strong operational oversight and foster a positive, accountable and supportive workplace culture.

This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity requiring someone who can balance participant outcomes, staff development, service quality and operational responsibilities.

About the Role

As a House Manager, you will provide hands‑on leadership and operational oversight across a range of support environments, including 1:1 and 2:1 support arrangements. Working collaboratively with your Area Manager, you will lead your team, maintain compliance obligations and ensure the delivery of safe, consistent and high‑quality participant supports.

Your responsibilities will include:

Lead and support your team, providing day‑to‑day guidance, mentoring and direction while fostering a positive, professional and accountable workplace culture.

Ensure quality, person‑centered supports that uphold participant rights, dignity, independence, choice and control.

Maintain compliance with the NDIS Practice Standards, NDIS Code of Conduct, organisational policies, procedures and relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.

Oversee the implementation of individualised support plans, including Positive Behaviour Support Plans, risk assessments, health management plans and other relevant participant documentation.

Promote trauma‑informed and least‑restrictive practices, ensuring staff understand and consistently implement appropriate strategies when supporting participants with complex needs and behaviours of concern.

Maintain strong safeguarding oversight, identifying, responding to and escalating incidents, risks, changes in participant presentation and potential concerns.

Oversee incident reporting and documentation, ensuring records are accurate, timely and complete, with appropriate follow‑up actions implemented.

Coordinate daily household operations, including staff responsibilities, shift handovers, appointments, household routines and the maintenance of a safe and welcoming environment.

Monitor staff performance and compliance, ensuring team members understand their responsibilities, complete required training and consistently follow participant support plans and organisational expectations.

Work collaboratively with Area Managers and Allocations to identify staffing requirements, address roster concerns and maintain continuity and consistency of supports.

Build positive relationships with participants, families, guardians, allied health professionals and other stakeholders to support effective communication and coordinated service delivery.

Drive continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to strengthen service quality, team capability, safeguarding practices and participant outcomes.

Above all, you will lead by example, demonstrating accountability, sound judgement and a genuine commitment to creating a home environment where participants feel safe, respected and empowered, and where staff are supported to deliver their best work.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking experienced, compassionate and capable Disability Support Workers who understand the complexities of supporting individuals with multiple and intersecting support needs. The ideal candidates will demonstrate:

Proven ability to support participants with complex disabilities, psychosocial needs and behaviours of concern, including experience in 2:1 or other high‑intensity support environments.

An understanding of how trauma can influence behaviour, communication and relationships, with the ability to establish trust, promote emotional safety and provide consistent, respectful support.

Confidence implementing individualised Behaviour Support Plans, recognising early indicators of distress and applying proactive, evidence‑informed de‑escalation strategies.

A genuine commitment to participant choice and control, supported decision‑making, dignity of risk and least‑restrictive approaches.

The ability to encourage meaningful community participation, build social connections and support participants to pursue their individual interests, aspirations and goals.

Strong awareness of duty of care, participant rights, professional boundaries and the importance of recognising, responding to and escalating concerns.

The ability to work effectively within a 2:1 staffing arrangement, maintain consistent support approaches and collaborate with colleagues, families and allied health professionals.

A calm, patient and flexible approach, with the confidence to respond appropriately to changing circumstances and complex situations.

A willingness to engage in ongoing learning, reflective practice, professional development and continuous improvement.

A commitment to accurate, timely and comprehensive documentation, including progress notes, incident reporting, participant records and other required service documentation, ensuring compliance with organisational procedures.

To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Minimum two years' demonstrated experience supporting people with disability, including individuals with complex support needs and/or behaviours of concern.

Relevant qualification in Disability, Community Services, Mental Health or a related discipline.

Demonstrated understanding of trauma‑informed care, Positive Behaviour Support and person‑centered service delivery.

Current Working with Children Check (Employee).

Current National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).

Current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) and Provide CPR (HLTAID009) certifications.

Access to a reliable motor vehicle with comprehensive insurance.

Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends, sleepovers and public holidays as required.
