Job summary

Langlands Restaurant & Bar at Hyatt Centric Melbourne seeks a friendly Host to welcome guests, manage reservations and seat guests, ensuring a seamless dining experience. You will work closely with the front-of-house team to maintain flow and guest satisfaction.

The role requires a minimum of 2 years in premium hospitality, strong communication skills, and a Victorian RSA certificate. Hyatt benefits and premium dining opportunities are on offer.

Qualifications

• Passionate about hospitality and guest experience.
• Previous experience in premium restaurant/hotel settings.
• At least 2 years as a Section Waiter, with a warm, engaging presence.
• Confident, friendly communicator who connects with guests.
• Calm and organised in fast-paced service.
• Strong attention to detail; manage reservations and flow.
• Experience with POS or reservation systems (Infrasys highly regarded).
• Victorian RSA certificate is required.

Responsibilities

About the Role

Langlands is entering its next chapter. Following an extensive renovation and renewed focus on dinner, we're looking for a Host who understands that great hospitality begins long before the first plate reaches the table. As the first and last point of contact for every guest, you'll set the tone for the Langlands experience. From managing reservations and orchestrating the flow of the dining room to creating genuine connections, you'll ensure every guest feels welcomed, recognised and excited to return. We're looking for someone who thrives in a vibrant restaurant environment, enjoys connecting with people and brings confidence, warmth and professionalism to every interaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Create a memorable first and last impression by warmly welcoming, seating and farewelling every guest.
• Manage reservations, waitlists and table allocations to ensure a seamless flow of service.
• Confidently coordinate the dining room from the door, working closely with the Venue Manager and front-of-house team.
• Build genuine rapport with guests while sharing your knowledge of Langlands and its dining experience.
• Maintain accurate booking systems, table plans and guest communications.
• Open and close the venue, including POS and till reconciliation.
• Support private dining experiences and special events.
• Maintain exceptional presentation standards while ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace health and safety requirements.

Qualifications

About you

• Passionate about hospitality and creating memorable guest experiences.
• Previous experience in a premium restaurant, hotel or hospitality environment.
• At least 2 years of experience as a Section Waiter.
• A naturally warm, confident and engaging communicator who enjoys connecting with people.
• Calm, organised and able to think ahead in a fast-paced service environment.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage reservations and guest flow seamlessly.
• Experience with POS or reservation systems (Infrasys experience is highly regarded).
• A current Victorian Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate
