St John of God Ballarat Hospital in Ballarat is seeking a Grade 1 or Grade 2 Speech Pathologist to join the Allied Health team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. New graduates are welcome to apply and will join a supportive multidisciplinary team across acute and rehabilitation settings.

The role involves assessment and intervention for communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders, development of individual therapy programs, and collaboration with a wide clinical team to deliver excellent

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology and current full membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
• New graduates welcome to apply.
• Demonstrated interest in developing clinical skills across acute and rehabilitation settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to evidence-based clinical practice and positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide Speech Pathology assessment and intervention for communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders.
• Develop individual therapy programs with short and long-term goals.
• Assess and manage patients across acute and rehabilitation settings.
• Document assessments, treatments and progress in the medical record.
• Participate in ward rounds, family conferences and patient review meetings.
• Educate patients and families about communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Refer and recommend further assessment or community support as appropriate.
• Collaborate with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team to optimise outcomes.
• Apply an evidence-based, problem-solving approach to clinical care.
• Contribute to quality improvement and service development activities.
• Complete administrative duties including documentation and reporting.
