Job summary

Slade Pharmacy, located at Epworth Freemasons Hospital in East Melbourne, seeks a Pharmacy Assistant/Pharmacy Technician for a permanent full-time role with a varied mix of hospital, retail and patient-facing responsibilities.

You will work closely with the Pharmacist-in-Charge across maternity, IVF and day-procedure units, dispensing medications, managing ward stock and supporting patient discharges while delivering personalised care.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an Australian community or hospital pharmacy (essential).
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities and work across a variety of tasks.
• Familiarity with dispensing medication and FRED Dispense (preferred).
• Understanding of PBS and S2/S3 medications (preferred).
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to manage time effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail and a genuine drive to positively impact patient health.
• Passion for building relationships and delivering personalised care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with receiving, dispensing and supply of medications for hospital inpatients and outpatients under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Support daily documentation of medication dispensing and patient visits.
• Assist in processing and maintaining imprest levels, and managing hospital ward stock.
• Reconcile and manage prescriptions and patient medication discharge profiles.
• Provide support to patients, carers and hospital staff and ensure walk in customers are prioritised.
• Collaborate with pharmacy staff, nurses, and community health workers to support treatment adherence.
• Assist with S2/S3 sales and retail ordering and reconciliation.
• Maintain the retail space, including merchandising, stock ordering, checking expiries, processing invoices and liaising with supplier representatives.
• Support IVF and Maternity patients with specific product information, e.g. IVF kits, breast pumps, maternity garments.
• Process PBS claims and assist in producing medication profiles to hospital patients on discharge.
• Confidently complete administrative and record keeping duties.
• Assist with patient account enquiries.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the dispensing/pharmacy area.
