Job summary

St Vincent's Public Hospital in Sydney is seeking an Intern Pharmacist for a full-time, max-term (1 year) contract ending January 2028. The role focuses on inpatient and outpatient services, medication management and clinical care.

You must have a Pharmacy Degree and be eligible for provisional registration with AHPRA, with eligibility to enrol in an Intern Training Program. The position offers competitive pay and not-for-profit salary packaging within a renowned hospital network.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Pharmacy Degree and eligible for provisional registration with AHPRA, plus eligibility to enrol in an Intern Training Program.
• Sound knowledge of pharmacology and ability to apply in clinical situations.
• Excellent written and oral communication, with interpersonal skills to counsel patients and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
• Understanding hospital pharmacist role, professional, ethical and legal responsibilities, with a commitment to ongoing development, continuing education, quality improvement and research.
• Proactive, adaptable team player with initiative, strong problem-solving, time management and prioritisation skills, and the ability to work independently in a busy team.

Responsibilities

• Support inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, developing clinical skills in medication management and pharmaceutical care planning.
• Develop skills in patient counselling, medication education and provision of drug information to patients, carers and other professionals.
• Gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including the preparation of extemporaneous pharmaceuticals and applying relevant quality and safety controls.
• Participate in pharmacy practice research, including undertaking a specific research project.
• Work collaboratively within the pharmacy team, participate in weekend rosters and undertake other duties as required.
