Job summary

St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney is seeking a Pharmacist under a max term contract to support inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services. You will develop pharmacology knowledge, provide patient counselling, and participate in pharmaceutical manufacturing with quality controls.

Under the supervision of a Pharmacist, you will engage in research projects, join a busy pharmacy team, and contribute to weekend rosters while pursuing provisional registration with AHPRA and an Intern Training Program.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a Pharmacy Degree and eligible for provisional registration with AHPRA plus eligibility to enrol in an approved Intern Training Program prior to commencement.
• Sound knowledge of pharmacology and the ability to apply this knowledge in practical clinical situations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to counsel patients and collaborate with healthcare professionals.
• Understanding of the role of a Hospital Pharmacist with commitment to ongoing professional development, quality improvement and research.
• Proactive and adaptable team player with initiative, problem-solving, time management and prioritisation skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services, developing clinical skills in medication management and pharmaceutical care planning.
• Develop skills in patient counselling, medication education and provision of drug information to patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
• Gain hands-on experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, including preparation of extemporaneous pharmaceuticals and applying quality and safety controls.
• Participate in pharmacy practice research, including undertaking a specific research project.
• Work collaboratively within the pharmacy team and participate in weekend rosters.
