Job summary

Mater Private Hospital Mackay is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join the team on a permanent, full-time basis. The role provides building maintenance across Mater facilities, ensuring swift resolution of issues and satisfaction for patients and staff.

The successful candidate will perform routine repairs, replacements, and safety-critical tasks, while coordinating with managers and trades. Mater offers not-for-profit benefits and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• Broad/generalist experience in maintenance/handyman tasks.
• Electrical Test and Tag license (desirable).
• Experience in hospital or large commercial complex (desirable).
• Current Driver's Licence (unrestricted).
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to follow safety policies and procedures.
• Teamwork and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Provide building maintenance support across Mater campuses.
• Communicate with Manager and Trade co-ordinator about daily work plan.
• Assist in planning maintenance and renovation programs.
• Provide quotations for work as required.
• Ensure safety of patients, visitors and staff; maintain access and services.
• Complete tasks in a timely manner; log jobs in service management system.
• Replace lighting lamps and tubes; repair fixtures and fittings.
• Test & tag of new patient appliances.
• Ceiling tile replacements; minor repairs to walls and fittings.
