Job summary

Macquarie University Health is seeking a dynamic Catering Assistant for our Hotel Services team at Macquarie University Hospital. The role involves preparing meals for patients and staff, ensuring dietary needs are met and delivering high-quality service within a hospital setting.

You will report to the Executive Chef, work to exacting standards, and contribute to a patient-centered dining experience across shift patterns.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a hospital or hotel setting.
• Strong communication and teamwork to support patient care and staff.
• Attention to dietary needs and safe food handling practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepares meals for patients, visitors and staff with focus on presentation and hospitality.
• Ensure patient dietary requirements are met and communicated to the team.
• Maintain strong customer relations and address service concerns promptly.
• Be a reliable, motivated and punctual team member.
• Communicate patient needs, including special dietary requirements, to the Executive Chef.
• Adhere to hospital policies, HACCP and food hygiene standards.

The Role

We are currently seeking dynamic, efficient, and flexible Catering Assistant to join the Hotel Services team in delivering outstanding service to clients, staff and visitors.

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be required to work within job specifications - meeting quality standards, communicate clearly, and be versatile in all facets of food preparation and service for our stakeholders in Macquarie University Hospital.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepares meals for patients, visitors, and staff with a focus on presentation and hospitality
• Reliable and detail oriented, ensuring patient dietary needs are met and promptly communicated to the team when necessary.
• Maintain strong customer relations, addressing service concerns promptly and effectively
• Highly motivated, Committed, and punctual team player.
• Communicates patient needs, including special dietary requirements, to the Executive Chef- General services.
• Adheres to hospital policies, procedures and standards in all work practices.
• Working knowledge of the HACCP program and service delivery.
• Sound knowledge and compliance to food hygiene and cleanliness standards
