Job summary

Disability and Injury Services in Woolloongabba, QLD, is expanding its team of Home Care Workers. We offer choice of CONTRACTOR or EMPLOYEE arrangements to support NDIS participants across South East Queensland.

You will assist with community access, domestic tasks, personal care, and medication support, working with compassionate, reliable team members. Strong communication and a person-centred approach are essential; afternoon shifts available.

Qualifications

• Full working rights to work in Australia.
• Valid QLD Driver’s Licence & reliable vehicle.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check.
• First Aid & CPR Certification.
• Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation and Infection Control Training.
• Strong communication, literacy, and interpersonal skills.
• Reliability, empathy, and professionalism.
• Available to participate in afternoon shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored assistance to individuals living with disability to help them achieve goals and maintain independence.
• Community access (shopping, outings, exercise, social visits).
• Domestic assistance (cooking, light cleaning, laundry).
• Medication assistance and home therapy support.
• Skill development and social engagement.
• Some manual handling may be required.

About You

We are looking for team members who:

• Are compassionate, patient, and genuinely person-centred
• Are excellent listeners and take time to understand each participants individual needs and preferences
• Are non-judgemental, respectful, and maintain professional boundaries
• Can support participants without imposing their own personal beliefs, opinons or values
• Have clear spoken and written English to ensure effective communication, particularly with participants who have hearing impairemtn or communication difficulties
• Are observant, reliable and able to communicate important information accurately with participants families and the wider support team
• Demonstrate discretion, confidentiality and professionalism at all times

About the Role

You’ll provide tailored assistance to individuals living with disability to help them achieve their goals and maintain independence.

Support includes:

• Community access (shopping, outings, exercise, social visits)
• MALE CARER PREFERRED: This is due to participant preference and personal care requirements (personal hygiene assistance)
• Domestic assistance (cooking, light cleaning, laundry)
• Medication assistance and home therapy support
• Skill development and social engagement
• Some manual handling required

We’re seeking people with the following essential attributes:

• Full working rights to work in Australia
• Valid QLD Driver’s Licence & reliable vehicle
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• First Aid & CPR Certification
• Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation and Infection Control Training
• Strong communication, literacy, and interpersonal skills
• Reliability, empathy, and professionalism
• Available to participate in afternoon shifts
