Job summary

Uniting is seeking a Placement Support Worker to work with children, young people and families under the Home Based Care Program in Gippsland. You will collaborate with caregivers and stakeholders to achieve case plan outcomes and provide ongoing training and supervision to caregivers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Social Work or related field.
• Current Victorian driver's licence.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people.
• Knowledge of Gippsland out-of-home care resources and services.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Your new role

As a Placement Support Worker, you will work collaboratively with children, young people, their families, carers and other stakeholders to ensure desired outcomes are achieved in the context of the child or young person’s needs and case plan. The role will also provide ongoing training and supervision to caregivers, and actively support the development of positive relationships and environments within caregiving households.

About the program

The Home Based Care Program provides high quality case management support to vulnerable children and young people aged 0-18 years who are unable to live with their own families and are placed in the care of volunteer caregivers through emergency, respite, short term or long term placements.

Your skills and experience

You will bring with you:

• Bachelor qualifications in Social Work / Welfare or related field
• Current Victorian drivers licence
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates
• Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues surrounding the out-of-home care system and the available resources and services in Gippsland
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with adults, adolescents, children and sector representatives.
