Job summary

Downer seeks a High Frequency Communications Technician in Canberra to deliver advanced technical support on defence and national security projects. You will develop, review, and execute complex communications packages while aligning with safety, regulatory, and performance requirements.

You will apply your technical knowledge to identify risks, lead maintenance assurance activities, and engage with Defence stakeholders to drive outcomes.

Qualifications

• Relevant higher education or vocational qualifications in communications engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate fluently, both orally and in writing, and present complex information to diverse audiences.
• Strong problem-solving, risk management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience in Defence sustainment and technical assurance activities.
• ASDEFCON Suite Experience

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and assess technical packages, reports, and product performance against requirements.
• Execute complex communications technical and maintenance assurance activities in line with agreed priorities, milestones, and outcomes.
• Exercise assigned technical authorities and ensure compliance with technical regulatory requirements.
• Apply technical knowledge to identify risks and uncertainties, implement corrective actions, and support continuous improvement in communications systems and processes.
• Ensure safety aspects of Defence capability are considered and incorporated into all technical activities.
• Build and sustain positive relationships with internal Defence stakeholders, external industry partners, and suppliers to influence outcomes and ensure effective collaboration.
