Job summary

Downer Professional Services in Canberra is seeking a Network Engineer to deliver secure Defence communications and network engineering across complex projects. You will perform engineering across voice, video, and data systems, contributing to converged environments and ensuring architecture traceability to capability needs.

The role requires tertiary qualifications in related fields, along with experience in Defence or secure networks, and strong stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Network Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Chartered Professional Engineer status (or the ability to attain chartership) with a recognised professional body.
• Demonstrated experience in Defence or secure communications and network engineering environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
• Experience working with Defence engineering frameworks, including the ASDEFCON Suite.

Responsibilities

• Perform network engineering activities across voice, video and data systems, including converged communications environments.
• Support the design, integration and assurance of secure Defence LAN, WAN and communications network architectures.
• Conduct network and communications requirements analysis and ensure traceability to system-level capability needs.
• Review and develop network engineering documentation and artefacts in accordance with Defence and IC3SPO standards.
• Provide specialist technical input to stakeholders and contractor deliverables across the project lifecycle.
