Job summary

Hawkesbury City Council is seeking a Heritage Conservation professional to provide expert advice, lead the Heritage Strategy, and assess development applications within NSW. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to implement heritage policies and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires strong research, analytical and communication skills, plus relevant qualifications in heritage conservation or related disciplines.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in heritage conservation, architecture, town planning, urban design, or related discipline.
• Experience preparing or assessing heritage significance assessment and heritage impact assessments.
• Knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Heritage Act 1977 and related NSW heritage legislation.
• Experience preparing reports, briefings and correspondence on complex development matters.
• High level verbal and written communication skills.
• Right to live and work in Australia.
• Class C Drivers Licence.
• WHS General Construction Work in NSW.
• Working with Children Check (WWCC).
• Background checks and medical declaration may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide heritage and technical conservation advice to internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead Council and community heritage conservation through developing, coordinating and implementing the Heritage Strategy.
• Assess development applications and manage the preparation of heritage policies and strategies.
