Job summary

Strait Link is seeking a casual Heavy Rigid Driver for its busy Devonport depot. The role covers safe operation, loading/unloading freight and local cartage tasks as directed by the supervisor, with forklift duties included.

The roster is primarily day shifts with some weekends. Candidates should have HR licence, delivery experience, and a strong focus on safety, with ability to work independently and physically handle duties.

Qualifications

• Minimum Year 10 secondary education (Year 12 preferred).
• HR Vehicle Licence is required.
• MSIC (preferred but not essential).
• Proven delivery and freight experience.
• Ability to work in cold environments.
• Commitment to safety and compliance with road regulations.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual handling.
• Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
• Good written and verbal communication.
• Knowledge of federal and state road regulations, load restraint, and fatigue management.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight and operate forklift duties as required.
• Carry out local cartage jobs as delegated by supervisor.
• Ensure road transport rules are followed in a safe, efficient manner.
• Roster mainly days with some weekends.

Job Description

We are looking for a casual Heavy Rigid Driver for our busy depot in Devonport.

The positioncarries a responsibility for all aspects of Road Transport Rules and Regulations which should be conducted in a competent, safe and law-abiding manner with due consideration to an efficient and service-oriented environment. Completing any local cartage job as delegated by the supervisor can also be required.Forklift duties form part of this role, including loading and unloading freight.

The majority of roster will be days that includes some weekends.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
