Job summary

Strait Link is seeking a Dispatch Coordinator for the Coles Distribution Centre in Truganina to coordinate dispatch activities and support load planning across the mainland and Tasmanian networks.

You’ll ensure safe loading practices, maintain accurate records, and work closely with Coles, Linfox and Strait Link teams to keep daily transport operations running smoothly. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Coles Truganina with occasional duties at Webb Dock.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Transport Coordinator or in a logistics operations role.
• Knowledge of Australian heavy vehicle regulations and Chain of Responsibility.
• Strong communication to coordinate drivers, operations and warehouse teams.
• Experience using transport dispatch or logistics systems to allocate loads.
• Ability to prioritise workflow and resolve issues professionally.
• Proficient in computer systems and reporting.

About the Role

Strait Link Logistics is seeking a Dispatch Coordinator to support daily transport operations at the Coles Distribution Centre in Truganina.

In this role you will coordinate dispatch activities, support load planning and ensure freight is safely and efficiently prepared for transport within Strait Link’s mainland and Tasmanian logistics network. You will work closely with Coles, Linfox and Strait Link operational teams to maintain smooth daily transport operations.

This position is primarily based at the Coles Truganina Distribution Centre, with flexibility to work from Strait Link’s Webb Dock site when required. This role is a Monday-Thursday roster.

The role operates on a roster of Monday to Wednesday between 8:00am – 6:00pm and Thursday between 8:00am – 2:00pm. The Thursday shift may occasionally vary to an earlier start and finish. Work on public holidays will be required as aligned with the Distribution Centre operating hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate daily transport operations and equipment allocation at the Coles DC.
• Work closely with the Webb Dock fleet team to support efficient load planning and dispatch.
• Ensure safe loading practices and compliance with Chain of Responsibility requirements.
• Liaise with Strait Link, Linfox and Coles teams to maintain smooth operational workflow.
• Manage Strait Link driver compliance at the DC, including site inductions and adherence to dispatch procedures.
• Update distribution centre systems accurately and in line with dispatch processes.
• Create consignment notes, manifests and shipping bookings using Strait Link systems. Flag discrepancies between manifested and actual loaded freight

Maintain accurate dispatch records to support KPI/performance reporting (on-time dispatch, load fill rates, etc.)

• Support freight tracking and ensure timely ship lodgement of freight.
• Undertake load planning for Tasmanian Coles stores as required.
• Promote safe work practices and contribute to an injury-free workplace.
• Provide backup/relief coverage for other dispatch or fleet support roles during leave or peak periods

• Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate drivers, operations and warehouse teams.
• Experience using transport dispatch or logistics systems to allocate loads and track movements.
• Ability to prioritise workflow and resolve operational issues in a professional manner.
• Strong computer literacy and experience using business systems for reporting and communication.
• Work within a critical logistics network supporting Coles supermarket supply chains.
