Job summary

BJT Equip on the Gold Coast is seeking a hands-on Heavy Plant Mechanic & Yard Coordinator to join our Helensvale yard. The role splits between diagnosing and repairing our fleet of heavy earthmoving equipment and trucks, and keeping the yard organised and safe.

You will service, maintain, and repair equipment, coordinate yard operations, and support fleet compliance. A HC/MC licence and trade qualification are preferred, with HR/HC valued but not essential.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel/Plant Mechanic (or equivalent experience) WITH A HC/MC LICENCE.
• Experience servicing and repairing heavy earthmoving equipment and/or heavy vehicles.
• A current driver's licence (HR/HC highly regarded but not essential).
• A safety-first mindset and reliable, physically fit and ready for hands-on yard work.
• Good communication and a genuine team player attitude.

• Carrying out scheduled maintenance, breakdown repairs and pre-start defect rectification
• Coordinating yard operations — equipment movement, housekeeping, stock/parts organisation, loading and unloading
• Supporting fleet compliance (pre-starts, servicing records, safety checks)
• Working safely and to BJT Equip's ISO-accredited quality, environmental and safety systems
• Assisting operators and drivers with on-site equipment issues as needed
